Hook Up Lead Connectors

Electrical Volt System My Dutch friends have taught me many useful things over the years, for instance when you are staying at a camp ground with electrical hook-ups, make full use of the electricity – after all you have already paid for it. It is vital that you have a safe connection to the site power supply, so here are a few rules and some information on the IP44 splash proof connectors we all use: IP44 The first digit is a hardware protection rating between 0 no protection and 6 full protection against dust sized particles , and a rating of 4 means that objects greater than 1mm – such as a fine wire – cannot find their way into contact with hazardous parts. The second digit is a water ingress protection rating between 0 no protection and 7 full protection – submersed and under pressure. A rating of 4 gives protection against water splashes from all directions and in case you were wondering, a rating of 5 is fully jet washer proof. The plugs, connectors and socket bodies are manufactured from high impact, self-extinguishing durable plastics. IP44 is adequate protection providing you understand that the protection offered only applies when the connectors are fully mated and locked. Connecting to Site Power volts and wet grass do not mix, so this is the recommended safe procedure for connecting up to site power: Working from caravan to site power mast Plug the IP44 cable plug into the Eriba wall socket Now work your way towards the site power mast, unwinding the cable as you go Make sure all of the cable is removed from the reel – loops of cable wrapped around a reel have overheated in the past Connect to site power socket – some sockets are live, some require a clockwise quarter turn to switch on the power Work in reverse, disconnect from site power first and then work back towards the caravan.

After Maurice’s murder by Phocas , Khosrau used the pretext to reconquer the Roman province of Mesopotamia. He was eventually deposed in by Heraclius , who sailed to Constantinople from Carthage with an icon affixed to the prow of his ship. After this, the Sassanid army was forced to withdraw to Anatolia. The loss came just after news had reached them of yet another Byzantine victory, where Heraclius’s brother Theodore scored well against the Persian general Shahin.

The main Sassanid force was destroyed at Nineveh in , and in Heraclius restored the True Cross to Jerusalem in a majestic ceremony, [69] as he marched into the Sassanid capital of Ctesiphon , where anarchy and civil war reigned as a result of the enduring war. Eventually, the Persians were obliged to withdraw all armed forces and return Sassanid-ruled Egypt , the Levant and whatever imperial territories of Mesopotamia and Armenia were in Roman hands at the time of an earlier peace treaty in c.

Leisure battery construction and care. Whether you camp on a Club site with full electric hook-up or attend rallies with no mains electric supply a battery in your unit is an essential addition.

Search A Guide to Living in a Camper Van Living in a camper van or motorhome is a cheap and convenient way to see lots of locations. If you are looking to explore in comfort then it is a great option. I lived in my camper van for 9 months, and loved it. My vehicle was a converted small Mercedes Sprinter which I converted into a camper van. I spent almost all of my time free camping, with occasional visits to camp sites when in built up areas, and also in rural areas to refresh water supplies and empty toilets, etc.

I had no problems at all. I know free camping in these areas is more difficult during June, July and August as the police do not like too many people taking up car parks when there are lots of visitors to the beaches. My camper van looked like an ordinary van from the outside, and so did not attract much attention. But, If I were going to spend a lot of time living in a vehicle I would consider buying a motorhome as these are more comfortable.

Campervan

Volkswagen Autosleeper Clubman GL, a typical European campervan The term motorhome is sometimes used interchangeably with campervan, but the former can also be a larger vehicle than a campervan and intended to be more comfortable, whilst the latter is more concerned with ease of movement and lower cost. Campervans usually have a small kitchen with a refrigerator which is often powerable by a choice of gas, battery, or mains electricity and a two-burner gas hob and grill.

They generally have dual-voltage lighting which can work from either a dedicated battery other than the van battery known as a deep-cycle or leisure battery, or from AC power , supplied at a campsite via a hook-up cable. Larger models may include a water heater, space heating and air conditioning, a portable toilet and even an internal shower. Smaller models often carry a “porta-potty” portable toilet, and sometimes an external shower which operates within the privacy of an awning.

We don’t hook-up to city water, but we’ll usually top off before we leave. The main time for us to use electricity is when we’re winter camping. Canaan Valley in West Virginia keeps the campground open all winter, so we go there to go snowshoeing.

But for more than a decade now, campground owners and their national association have quietly been working behind the scenes to convince local governments to enact anti-RV ordinances that ban overnight camping in anything but a campground. As a result, thousands of places around North America have passed such ordinances.

And more do so every day. There used to be a website called rvunfriendly. It vanished from the net, sometime in late or early But this is the map they had that shows places with RV unfriendly laws Now before I go any further, I need to point out something. I am NOT anti-campground. Neither is Campskunk or Jim Hammill or any of the other writers on this blog. I use campgrounds all the time.

Jennifer and I will be in one in Cape Cod next week. We have reservations over the summer at others in Ontario, Nebraska, Oregon and will likely make more.

Read on if you want to learn how to use our electric hook-up facility safely and efficiently. There are two main ways you can power electrical devices on the campsite. Easy camping prep: Once you prep your RV for the camping season, you can pack up and go for easy camping. You don’t have to load and unload every single piece of camping gear each time you head out like you would with a tent.

Some would consider the idea delusional, delinquent, idealistic or impossible. But believing it acts as a self-fulfilling prophecy. I mean anywhere In four months of cycling from England to Turkey, across all of Western and Eastern Europe, I spent a total of five nights in paid accommodation. It was difficult and stressful — at first. The initial power to do this came from stubbornness of character. I refused outright to even consider paid accommodation.

I was a real expert in stubbornness! A lot of our survival in the past depended on our overactive imaginations, which were and still are great at cooking up wild fantasies of savage beasts and hostile tribes hiding behind every rock. Because of this, and especially once it gets dark, people are uninquisitive of anywhere outside the places they know by daylight. The world is your campsite — enjoy it.

Camouflage Your main sleeping option is your tent. Other colours will get you by as well, just not as stealthily. Take off any shiny labels on the outside of the tent.

To hook up the shore power receptacle, I just cut the plug off the end of the inverter/charger power cord and wired it to the shore power receptacle. Installation This section provides some pictures showing how I installed the components in our van.

Utility Hook Ups When you are in a camp ground that has either partial hookups usually only water and electric or has full hookups water, electric, and sewer , usually hooking up your utility connections is the next step after levelling your RV. Water Connection Now you are ready for the water connection. First attach the regulator to the water inlet of your RV. Usually hand tightening is enough to stop any leaks. If you are having trouble getting any leaks to stop, possibly the washers are old, worn, or no longer supple.

It is a good idea to be sure that there is a screen-type hose washer on the inlet side of both your water filter and your water regulator at least that is what I do. If any large particles of stuff somehow happen to get into the water source, these screens keep the larger stuff from entering your water filter or water regulator, and eventually plugging them up.

None of us enjoy the “surprise” of taking a big gulp of water and feeling something besides cool water going down our throat! Some folks like to put the water regulator right at the RV site hose bib and then put the water filter up near the RV—this probably is the most prudent way. The idea is to first reduce the water pressure so that the hose doesn’t rupture from too much pressure, but I have never had a problem putting the water pressure regulator on the RV-end of the water hose.

If you have trouble stopping a pesky leak, even by using new hose washers, try a “donut washer. They compress much more easily and pesky leaks easily disappear. Now, attach your water hose to the hose bib at your RV site, and then attach the water filter to the other end the coach end.

Print Email We’re now nearly three months into our third trip and one of the recurring problems from the previous tours is the matter of drying hair. Sophie, who has lovely long blonde hair, hates not being able to blow dry it properly. We tried all manor of 12v hair dryers which varied from pathetic to down right dangerous with melting wires and popping fuses.

In the end she settled to dry it using the hot air vents in the cab, which in Summer was a bit overpowering! There are two types of inverter, pure sine and modified sine wave. Pure sine wave is the better type which is exactly the same as the electricity you have at home. We purchased a Ring w Inverter – this particular model suited us for a number of reasons:
